Partitioning the hard disk creates multiple volumes on your single disk storage, for example, Local disk D, E, etc. These partitions will be separate from each other as well as from your C Drive, where your Windows OS and all the installed Windows software are stored. Along with that, you will not lose your files while doing it.

You don't need to get a degree in computer master or be a computer geek to do this. Just follow the given steps one by one and do it with your own computer.

STEP 1: Click on Search.

STEP 2: Type “Disk Management” and press enter then open it.

STEP 3: RIGHT CLICK on C: or whichever disk you want to shrink and click on Shrink Volume. (as shown in the image)

Then, wait a moment

STEP 4: Now click on the third option as shown in the image.

In order to create a new 100 GB sized new volume or disk, YOU NEED = 1024 * 100 = 102400 MB. Simply for 200 GB just multiply the previous number by 2 and so on. (102400 * 2 = 204800)

Step 5: Here I'm creating a 100 GB new volume so I have to enter 102400 in the third option. You can decide what size you want and type accordingly and then click Shrink.

Step 6: Now right-click on that unallocated space and select new simple volume as shown in the image.

Step 7: Now, click on the next

If you want to change the name from a new volume to something of your choice, you can change it or just click on next.
